Introduced in 1977 as part of Greco's own-design GO series, the Speed Way basses moved away from the copy models of the era and offered a modern neck-through design built at the Fujigen factory in Matsumoto, Japan.

The headstock back carries the factory model plate ("Guitar revolution from Greco in 1977 / GOB-1200") and the serial number F788126, which dates this bass to June 1978 under Greco's month-letter serial system. The multi-ply striped neck runs all the way through the body. The wings are a sandwich of Sen (Japanese ash) top and back over a lighter core. Gold-tone hardware and a natural finish complete the look, and the bass has plenty of vintage mojo.

== SPECIFICATIONS ==
- Model: Greco GOB1200 (Speed Way)
- Year: 1978 (serial F788126)
- Country of Origin: Japan (Fujigen)
- Color: Natural
- Construction: Neck-through-body
- Body: Sen (Japanese ash) / Maple / Sen sandwich wings
- Scale: 34" (long scale)
- Pickups: Two humbuckers
- Controls: 5 knobs
- Pickup selector: 3-way
- Bridge: Adjustable gold-tone bridge with individual string tension adjusters
- Tuners: Open-gear bass tuners (gold-tone)
- Nut width: 41 mm
- Weight: 5.4 kg (11.9 lbs), measured

== CONDITION ==
Overall: Good

- Body: Scratches and honest playwear consistent with age
- Neck: Good condition; truss rod has plenty of adjustment remaining
- Frets: Approximately 60-70% remaining
- Nut: Shows wear (no effect on playability)
- Hardware: Rust on the tuners and bridge (vintage patina)
- Electronics: Working, but the pots are scratchy (crackle when turned)
- Modifications: None
- No odors

A 47-year-old instrument with its age showing.
