This is the later version of the original narrow-case series, fitted with an LED indicator and an EXT.DC adaptor jack - features the earliest D&S 2 pedals did not have - which makes it a more practical vintage pedal to use on a modern pedalboard.
The D&S 2 was produced by Maxon (Nisshin Onpa, Matsumoto, Japan) in the late 1970s in a small, MXR-sized enclosure. Early examples (documented from around 1978) have no LED and no DC jack; later narrow-case examples, generally dated to around 1979, added the LED and a DC jack. In the 1980s the pedal moved to the larger OD-802 enclosure, and the later reissue places its DC jack on the top of the enclosure. This example has the narrow case, the LED, the EXT.DC jack on the input-side panel and a push-button footswitch, which places it in the late narrow-case period. The pots inside are marked 792A and 693A, and the circuit board is a paper (phenolic) board housed in its insulating box.
== SPECIFICATIONS ==
- Model: D&S 2 (Distortion & Sustainer)
- Year: 1978-1980 (late narrow-case version)
- Country of Origin: Japan
- Color: Light Green
- Circuit: Analog
- Controls: Distortion, Tone, Balance
- Jacks: Input, Output, EXT.DC (side-mounted)
- Power: 9V battery, or external DC adaptor via the EXT.DC jack
- Indicator: LED
- Footswitch: Metal push-button type
- Knobs: Black fluted knobs with white indicator lines
== CONDITION ==
Overall: Very Good
- Enclosure: Light surface marks and minor scuffs consistent with age; no major damage
- Footswitch: Works properly; age-related tarnish on the metal hardware
- Knobs: All knobs present and in good condition
- Bottom: Bottom pad fitted, no hook-and-loop (velcro) tape
- Jacks: Input, output and EXT.DC jack all work properly
- Power: Battery snap and adaptor input both work properly
- Noise: No abnormal noise
- Function: Tested and fully functional. The late narrow-case version keeps the small 1970s enclosure and vintage parts, but adds the LED and the DC jack that the earliest examples lack, so it is easy to put on a pedalboard and use. If you want a 1970s Japanese drive pedal that you can actually gig with, this is a good choice.
Please feel free to message with any questions before purchasing.

TESTED & INSPECTED
Tested and inspected by our staff before shipping:
- Operation tested and confirmed working
- Controls, switches, and jacks checked
Your gear arrives ready to play.

SHIPPING FROM JAPAN
- Shipped worldwide from Japan with full tracking and insurance
- Carefully packed with protective wrapping
- Processed and shipped within 2-4 business days
Please message us with any questions before purchasing.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0690/3113/3426/files/01_794f9803-2449-4c42-9101-dc068d69f0cf.jpg?v=1794023570
https://revertyjapan.com/products/maxon-d-s-2-distortion-sustainer-late-version-guitar-effect-pedal-1978-80-mij
