This one has the early SG800 appointments: split-wing position inlays, a bound top and a cream pickguard with matching pickup rings.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe serial number 001943 is stamped on the back of the headstock above \"MADE IN JAPAN\". It belongs to the dedicated SG800 serial run used before Yamaha switched all SG models to a shared numbering system, which dates this guitar to around 1980 (late 1979 to 1980). The SG800 was released in Japan in December 1979 and was later replaced by the dot-inlay SG800S, so this is the first version of the model.
