Up for sale is an
extremely rare Fender Japan Stratocaster in Walnut
, produced in very limited numbers from the late 1980s to early 1990s. Based on the serial number, this example was made around
1985-1986
.
The body and neck are crafted from
high-grade walnut
, a premium tonewood reserved for Fender Japan's top-of-the-line instruments at the time. The fingerboard is
ebony
with a flat
305R radius
and
22 frets
. Instead of vintage frets, it features
wide frets
, allowing for smooth bends and choke-free playability even at low action. The satin-finished walnut neck feels silky to the touch and offers outstanding playability.
Hardware is finished in
gold plating
, giving the guitar a luxurious appearance (note: some rust is visible on the bridge).
Electronics include
USA-made ST-VINTAGE pickups
(with the neck pickup replaced by a Japanese-made ST-VINTAGE from the same series). The controls use
CTS pots dated 1982
and a
Switchcraft 3-way selector
, with additional noise shielding provided by a plate under the pickguard.
The
headstock decal
shows partial wear — this is common for this model, as these decals were not sealed under clear coat, and many examples have lost them entirely. The remaining decal adds a touch of vintage character.
