Fernandes Vintage Stratocaster Model FST – Late 1970s (FST-50)
This is a Fernandes vintage Stratocaster model FST, most likely the FST-50 manufactured in the late 1970s, based on its specifications.
The headstock carries the so-called “Stone Logo”, which was used from the late 1970s to the early 1980s. This era represents the dawn of Japanese electric guitars, and instruments from this period are highly sought after for their outstanding build quality and excellent tonewoods.
The body is made of beautifully grained Sen (Japanese ash), paired with a lacquer-finished maple neck and a dark, high-grade rosewood fingerboard—so dense and dark that it could almost be mistaken for ebony. The ultra-thin natural clear top coat gives the appearance of a lacquer finish, and there are visible weather checks, though the catalog does not confirm the exact finishing method.
On the back of the body, there is some paint wear. Other age-related marks are present, but overall the condition is good for its age. The neck is straight, the frets show wear but about 60% remain, and there are no dead spots or buzzing issues. The electronics, including the pickups, appear to be original, and the selector is a 5-way switch.
- Weight: 3.6 kg (approx. 7.9 lbs)
- Soft case included
This is a great choice for players who truly appreciate vintage Japanese guitars—don’t miss this opportunity!
