1982 Greco SS63-50 SG Special - Cherry, P-90s, Made in Japan by Fujigen
A Mint Collection-era SG Special from Greco's Fujigen factory, modeled
faithfully after the 1963 Gibson SG Special. The SS63-50 sits in the
sweet spot of Greco's history - introduced in 1982 as the direct
successor to the legendary Super Real-era SS-500, this earliest year of
the Mint Collection still carried over the hand-built quality and
attention to detail that made Super Real Grecos so revered today.
The SG Special configuration with twin P-90 soapbar pickups, dot inlays,
and a small batwing pickguard is widely considered one of the most
musical SG variants ever made. The P-90s deliver that unmistakable bark
and bite - clear, vocal, and dynamic - that has driven everything from
Pete Townshend's early Who recordings to Tony Iommi's earliest tones.

== WHY THIS GUITAR ==
1982 sits at one of the most interesting transition points in Greco
history - the absolute end of the hand-finished Super Real era and the
beginning of the Mint Collection. Examples from this single year are
known for combining the best of both worlds: Super Real-era
craftsmanship with the long-tenon neck joint and refined specs of the
Mint Collection. P-90-loaded SG Special copies from Greco are
considerably scarcer than the humbucker-equipped SS-600/700 models, and
genuine examples in original condition continue to climb in value among
collectors and players alike.
