1980 Yamaha SG1000 "Brown Sunburst" - Made in Japan Vintage Electric Guitar
The SG1000 is the model that sits at the core of Yamaha's legendary SG line, built during the golden age of Japanese guitar manufacturing. With its maple-topped mahogany body, laminated maple/mahogany neck and bound ebony fingerboard, it offers the weight, sustain and refinement that made the Yamaha SG a genuine alternative to the American classics of its era.
This example dates to 1980 based on the headstock serial number 015084. It wears the classic Brown Sunburst finish with gold hardware, split pearl triangle inlays and the engraved lyre tailpiece. The Bi-Sound System, operated from the tone controls, switches the humbuckers between full and tapped voicings for a wider tonal range than a standard two-humbucker layout. Outside Japan this generation was marketed under the SBG name.
