1993-1994 Fender Japan ST-Champ Mini Stratocaster - MIJ Travel
Guitar with Built-in Amp & Overdrive
A genuinely unique piece of Fender Japan history - the ST-Champ is
a short-scale "travel" Stratocaster with a built-in amplifier,
speaker, and overdrive circuit, all packed into a compact body.
Produced for only a brief window in the mid-1990s, these have
become quietly sought-after by collectors of unusual Japanese
guitars and travel instruments.
This particular example is from the earliest production run, with a
Q-prefix serial number indicating 1993-1994 manufacture at the
Fujigen plant - the same factory responsible for the most respected
Fender Japan models of that era. Compared to the later CIJ-period
ST-Champs (P/O serial), the early Fujigen examples are widely
considered the better-built variant.
