1995-1996 Yamaha SG-12AS "Flying Samurai" 12-String - 30th Anniversary Reissue, MIJ
This is a Yamaha SG-12AS, the 12-string version of Yamaha's 30th Anniversary reissue series that revived the company's first-generation SG offset design of the mid-1960s. Built in Japan by Nippon Gakki, it wears the Vintage Yellow (VY) finish with full gold-plated hardware and comes with its original Yamaha hard case.
The 30th Anniversary series was produced only in the mid-1990s and in small numbers. While the six-string SG-7AS appears on the used market from time to time, the 12-string SG-12AS seldom comes up for sale. The pickup layout is distinctive: a single coil in the neck position, and a bridge unit that looks like a humbucker but is in fact built from two separate single coils, blended by a dedicated balance control. Combined with the Yamaha vibrato unit, it delivers the shimmering, chiming voice that only an electric 12-string can produce.
