1987 BOSS DF-2 Super Feedbacker & Distortion "Black Label" - Distortion with Feedback Mode, Made in Japan
A Made-in-Japan BOSS DF-2 Super Feedbacker & Distortion with the black bottom label and ACA power spec. The DF-2 pairs a distortion with a built-in feedback function: hold the pedal down and the note sustains into feedback, without needing high stage volume.
The DF-2 was introduced in 1984 as the "Super Distortion & Feedbacker" and was renamed "Super Feedbacker & Distortion" in January 1985. Production was later moved to Taiwan. This example carries the post-1985 name on the top panel, the black "Products of Roland / MADE IN JAPAN" bottom label, and the "USE BOSS ACA ADAPTOR ONLY" sticker by the adaptor jack. Serial number 780600 on the battery compartment sticker dates it to 1987.

- Enclosure: Small paint chips along the edges and corners, with light scuffing - normal wear for a pedal of this age

- Knobs: All knobs in good condition; pots turn smoothly with no scratchiness
- Hardware: Tarnish on the pedal-cover screws and jack nuts (vintage patina)
- Bottom: Rubber bottom plate in place, no Velcro; the black bottom label is present with some creasing
- Battery compartment: Some spotting and discoloration on the interior paint and on the pedal spring; battery snap in good working order

Most distortion pedals stop at gain and tone. The DF-2 adds a feedback mode on the footswitch, so you can sustain a note into feedback at any volume, at home or on stage. Reverb's price guide notes that, as with other BOSS pedals, the earlier Made-in-Japan, black-label DF-2 units are the most sought after. This one is a 1987 Japanese example in Very Good, fully working condition.
