1984 BOSS TW-1 T Wah "Black Label" - Analog Auto Wah, Made in Japan
A Made-in-Japan BOSS TW-1 T Wah from 1984, with the black bottom label and the ACA power spec. The TW-1 is BOSS's touch-sensitive auto wah in the compact format: the filter sweep follows your picking dynamics, from a subtle quack to deep, vocal sweeps.
The TW-1 was on the market from July 1978 until May 1987 and was produced in Japan. The earliest units were labelled "Touch Wah" and used silver screws; later units read "T Wah", and black-screw versions followed, with the "TW-1" text moved under the "a" of "Wah". This example has the "T Wah" name with the TW-1 text under the "a", black screws on the pedal, the black bottom label marked "Products of Roland / MADE IN JAPAN" with the ACA adaptor table, and a serial label reading 416000 inside the battery compartment, which dates it to 1984 under the BOSS serial system.

- Enclosure: Small paint chip on the pedal top to the left of the "T" in the logo, plus minor chips and light scuffs along the edges and corners
- Pedal pad: Rubber pad intact and in good condition
- Bottom: Velcro has been removed; adhesive residue remains around and on the bottom label (the label text is still legible)
- Hardware: Light tarnish on the jack nuts and screws
- Knobs / switch: Both knobs turn smoothly with no scratchy pots; the Drive switch works properly
- Jacks: Input, output and AC adaptor jack all work properly
- Power: Works on both 9V battery and AC adaptor; battery snap in good condition

== WHY THIS PEDAL ==
The TW-1 keeps the auto wah simple: two knobs and an up/down sweep switch, with the response driven entirely by how hard you pick. Later BOSS auto wahs such as the AW-2 and AW-3 added more modes, but many players still go back to the TW-1 for its straightforward, funky envelope sweep. This one is a 1984 black-label Japanese example with a readable serial label, so you can see exactly when it was made.
