1972-1975 Greco SE Series "Gneco" Stratocaster Type - Matsumoku-Made MIJ, Sold As-Is
An early Japanese vintage Strat-type from the pre-serial "Gneco" logo period of Greco, built at the Matsumoku factory. The neck plate is stamped MATSUMOKU / MADE IN JAPAN, and the pickups carry the Maxon marking (numbered 14117) typical of early 1970s Japanese production.
Greco instruments from this earliest period carry no serial number, and examples that still wear the original "Gneco" headstock logo together with a Matsumoku-stamped neck plate are increasingly difficult to find. This particular guitar is offered as a project / parts-or-repair piece: the bridge pickup produces no output, and the tone controls do not function as the wiring has not been restored. The instrument is being sold in its current, unrestored state.

== WHY THIS GUITAR ==
The "Gneco" era represents the very first chapter of Greco's electric guitar production, before serial numbers were introduced. A Matsumoku-stamped neck plate, an early Maxon pickup set and a genuine period headstock decal make this a worthwhile base for a restoration, and a useful source of correct-era parts for another early Greco. The body, neck and hardware are all from the same early 1970s period, which is exactly what is hardest to source when restoring one of these.
