1977-1978 Yamaha SA1000 Super Axe Semi-Hollow - Brown - Made in Japan
This is a Yamaha SA1000 Super Axe, the semi-hollow double-cutaway model built in-house by Nippon Gakki (Yamaha) in Japan. The SA1000 went into production in December 1977, and this example's serial number (001249) places it in the 1977-1978 period. It has been fitted with DiMarzio (USA) humbuckers.
Yamaha's Super Axe line is highly regarded among players for its set mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard and solid Japanese build quality from the golden age of Japanese guitar manufacturing. This SA1000 wears a deep brown finish with cream binding on the top, back and fingerboard. It's a great choice for players who want a vintage MIJ semi-hollow with a different pickup voice from the original.
