2009 K-ON! KJB-MIO "Mio Akiyama Model" Jazz Bass - 3-Tone Sunburst
This is the officially licensed K-ON! KJB-MIO bass, built to echo the 3-Tone Sunburst Jazz Bass played by Mio Akiyama in the anime series K-ON!. It was released in Japan only and in limited numbers, so it seldom comes to market outside the domestic Japanese scene.
The KJB-MIO takes its cues from the Fender Japan JB62-style Jazz Bass seen in the show: alder-era offset styling, a tortoiseshell pickguard, chrome hardware and a classic two-single-coil layout. Although it was sold as a fan item, the instrument itself is a proper, fully playable Jazz Bass type rather than a novelty piece, and it is now collected as much as it is played. This particular example is the right-handed version (the left-handed variant is the one that mirrors the anime exactly).
